The End That Was Promised
Bestiary

Constructs and guardians

The End has no new animals: what moves out there is the Ancients' work, purpur plates round crystal cores. Each construct has one rule, and the Codex writes it in when you first meet one.

A Chorus Weaver's vine finds its mark

Chorus Weaver

Hides as a chorus plant until you come within 6 blocks, then lashes a vine that slows you and pulls you in. It spawns in the Chorus Thicket (weight 4, beside the endermen' 10).

How to beat it

  • No plant: a Chorus Weaver. Keep clear of its vine, or it drags you in.
  • Its vine reaches 12 blocks and slows you (Slowness IV for 2 s) as it pulls.

Drops

  • Chorus Resin ×1 (+1 a level of Looting, killed by a player)
A Lumen Wisp lighting the way for a player holding Lumen

Lumen Wisp

A lamplighter: hold Lumen near one and it follows at your shoulder, lighting the way behind you. It never fights. It spawns in the Lumen Mire (weight 10, beside the endermen' 10).

Health

How to beat it

  • It never fights. When it dies it leaves a light for 30 s.

Drops

  • Lumen ×1 (+1 a level of Looting, killed by a player)
A Rift Stalker, frozen by a straight look

Rift Stalker

Every few seconds it blinks behind you and strikes. Looking straight at it freezes it where it stands. It spawns in the Voidscar Wastes (weight 8, beside the endermen' 10).

How to beat it

  • Every 6 s it blinks in behind its target and strikes for 6.

Drops

  • Rift Dust ×1 (+1 a level of Looting, killed by a player)
A Purpur Sentry with its shield up

Purpur Sentry

For 3 seconds its shield stops every blow from the front, then it lunges. Strike it from the side or behind. Pairs guard the Void Shrines and the Fallen Observatories, and the Hollow Sentinel calls them to its Foundry.

How to beat it

  • Its shield covers 60° either side of where it faces, blows and shots alike.
  • Its shield turns blows from the front. Get round it: strike from the side or behind. After 3 s the shield drops and it lunges for 7.

Drops

  • Ancient Purpur Scrap ×1 (+1 a level of Looting, killed by a player)
A Crystal Warden beams; the dragon heals while it does

Crystal Warden

Hovers by a pillar and locks on for a second before it beams. While it beams the dragon heals: put a pillar between you. It comes only when the dragon calls it, in its third phase.

Health

How to beat it

  • A 1 s lock-on comes first; then its beam does 2 damage a second, and the dragon heals 1 a second while it beams.
  • Break line of sight behind a pillar, and break the Wardens.

Drops

  • Crystal Fragment ×1 (+1 a level of Looting, killed by a player)
A Lattice Crawler on the lattice

How to beat it

  • The lattice groans before it goes: step off it, or fight the Crawler off the lattice.
  • A torn block re-forms 8 s later.

Drops

  • Raw Lattice ×1 (+1 a level of Looting, killed by a player)

The three guardians

Each guardian is given its own Codex goal, and what it leaves for its fighters is kept for anyone dead or away when it falls.

The Hollow Sentinel, its shell cracked open

Hollow Sentinel

The guardian of the Shulker Foundry and the first seal: a hovering purpur shell round a teal core. It wakes when a player in survival comes within 20 blocks. Closed, it can't be hurt and fires three Resonant Bullets every 4 s (4 damage and 1 s of Levitation each).

Health

Armour

How to beat it

  • Strike its bullets back. Three crack its shell: open, it sinks to its dais for 6 s and takes ×1.5 damage.
  • At two thirds and one third of its health it closes, calls two Purpur Sentries to the Foundry's pads, and its bullets fly a quarter faster.
  • Left 4 minutes in one phase, it enrages.

Drops

  • Resonite Upgrade ×1
  • Ancient Purpur Scrap ×6–10
  • Ancient Core ×1 (to each who fought it)
  • Star Chart ×1 (to each who fought it)
The Void Leviathan rears over the Rift Maw's pool

Void Leviathan

The guardian of the Rift Maw and the second seal: a void wyrm that swims under the arena. Every 8 to 12 s a ring marks where it will breach, 1.5 s ahead; it bursts up under its target (14 damage in the ring) and rears for 4 s.

Health

Armour

How to beat it

  • Strike it from the lip while it rears. Under the surface it barely feels you: under the surface it takes only 20% of a blow.
  • Out of its reach, you can't hurt it: stand at the pool's lip.
  • Below 50% health it breaches twice in a row; below 20% it drags you toward the Maw while it rears. Hold back from the edge, or ride a vent.

Drops

  • Voidsteel Scrap ×6–10
  • Echo Amber ×2–4
  • Voidsteel Upgrade ×1
  • Leviathan Scale ×2
  • Starmetal ×2
  • Leviathan Fin ×1 (to each who fought it)
  • Star Chart ×1 (to each who fought it)
The Architect raises a lattice wall

The Architect

The guardian of the Unfinished Citadel and the last seal: a frame of Ancient scaffolding round a lit keystone, bound until its Amber Gate has been opened with an Amber Key. It raises walls of Phantom Lattice (seven wide and three high, for 10 s), throws Raw Lattice (7 damage, a lilac ring showing where it lands), and from 60% health unmakes the tiles under your feet, which come back 10 s later. From 25% it does both and calls Lattice Crawlers.

Armour

How to beat it

  • Its cage is shut: strike as it throws: a blow lands only as it throws, and only from its arena's disc.
  • As it throws, strike the lit keystone: blows there land harder (×1.45).
  • Keep moving off tiles that glow. With no player within 64 blocks for 1 minute, its arena resets.

Drops

  • Raw Lattice ×8–12
  • Architect's Promise ×1 (to each who fought it)
  • Architect's Lattice ×1 (to each who fought it)
